It's been a while since I updated everyone on my efforts to reduce our waste within our small indie business, so thought I would take the time to highlight some of the latest changes we've been making behind the scenes to improve our environmental impact.
No New Plastic
Since the beginning of 2022 we have placed only one small acrylic plastic order. and have designed our new collections based around the existing stock of materials that we already had. We topped up our recycled acrylic sheets used for our most popular items.
Sterling Silver Chains
One of the latest initiatives we are launching is to offer an upgrade to a silver chain on selected items. Not only will this offer a superb finish but it will increase the lifespan of our jewellery pieces significantly, keeping items from landfill and letting more people love their Bonnie Bling for longer!
Pre-Loved Chains
With so many old solid silver chains in circulation our HQ shopfront will be stocking a variety of restored chains to select as an alternative to our silver plate chains, ensuring you will have a truly unique piece of Bonnie Bling for your collection.
In-house Making
All of our jewellery is made from our small workshop here in Scotland, UK meaning we are employing local people to make great Scottish gifts and products.
Future Plans
We have recently added a second laser machine to our workshop that will enable us to increase our product range and future proof our ability to make in the coming years.
We are also beginning a new research project that will enable us to reuse our own offcuts of acrylic sheet and make them into one off acrylic pieces. By using innovative technologies and creative collaboration we are really excited to see what comes next for our small Scottish business!
